    Food was average and service was less than satisfactory- would not recommend this restaurant. My parents took me here for my birthday lunch. We had the wings, Mac and cheese and calamari to start with the burger, steak and turkey sandwich for our entrees. The appetizers were great - some of the best wings I've had in a while. Unfortunately, we were semi disappointed by the entrees. The steak was 34$ and did NOT think it warranted the price. Although the food was meh, I do not think we would return based on the service. Our waitress was an older lady who did not seem happy to be there and only seemed to crack a fake awkward smile on rare occasions.

    Just hosted a bridal shower for my last daughter what a pleasure to work with the staff from busboy to head of catering real pros. The place is reasonable, food was outstanding as good as it gets,the place is gorgeous, many thanks to all special thanks to the excellent waitress and bar tender

    Great setting and location for a holiday brunch....just a block from the State Park... Plenty of choices, and the service was very good, too... But better coordination between the kitchen and the front of house will help prevent diners from having to endure cold food... And I mean not even warm.... Every dish... I'm afraid the food's not good enough to overcome the awkwardness at the table when someone finally asks "Is your food cold, too?"

    One of our favorite places to dine al fresco when the weather breaks. Magnificent set up with outside bar, and garden. Just a gorgeous, relaxing setting to enjoy a cocktail and a few appetizers (their pizzas are popular) or dinner. The service is always good, without being pretentious. The inside dining room which you pass on the way to the restrooms upstairs, seems a bit stuffy to me, and almost like a shrine to George Washington. Great if you're a history buff. The food is good, but not remarkable, and a bit on the pricey side. We had an appetizer salad, and me, opting for more plant based choices, had a pasta entree. Not many other choices for vegetarians, except pasta and pizza.

    Mediocre food at gourmet prices. Unless there is a large dinner crowd, you cannot expect the bar to even be open at night when you walk in later than 8pm. Wish it weren't the only bar in town. It is a waste of a beautiful building.

    Crab soup is very good and about as perfect as it can be, but DO NOT order any heavy creamy dishes as an entrée - its too much. Nice place and fun bar.

    We had my bridal shower here and the event turned out great!! We had so many compliments from the food, dessert and the mimosa fountain!! We ended up having a few no shows but the planner allowed us to take home the extra meals, so that we can enjoy them instead of just paying the fee. I also came here for brunch and the spread had a large variety and was also very good.

    Went out to lunch with a large group of coworkers here on 8/14/14. Sat outside on the patio. Service was poor and food was mediocre. - Service: server was a shorter woman with dark hair in a high bun. We made it clear we were under time constraints but received snappy comments every time we asked for anything. - Food: Crossing Burger was decent but no one else had anything particularly worth complimenting. Wouldn't go here again and wouldn't recommend it.

    I wasn't sure what to expect from our meal here, but it actually was very nice. The inn itself is small but very well-kept, with bright sunny windows lighting the dining room. When we arrived the dining room was not that crowded, but for some inexplicable reason, the hostess sat our party of five right next to the only other large party in the entire dining room -- a party of about 12 celebrating a graduation. There was plenty of room to seat us away from them, which would have given both of our groups more privacy and make it easier for us to hear each other without shouting. Food-wise, things were very good. My creamy tomato soup came piping hot, served in a cute little pitcher that was served table-side. I got a salad as well, which was fresh and well-dressed. Everything else my family ordered seemed to be received well. I also enjoyed the extensive cocktail list, including some cocktails that were more historic in nature, since it is after all, a historic inn. Very nice. I would recommend stopping for a meal or a drink if you are in the Washington Crossing area.

    Decent place for the brunch buffet. Eggs Benedict were spot on, and the other offerings outside of breakfast foods like the salmon, chicken, and pasta rosa were all tasty. The buffet offerings itself isn't that big as some others, but the quality of the foods they had made up for that. Oddly enough, not a lot of people crowd the buffet area, so I never had to wait in line for anything. So that's a plus. Service was decent, coming back often to refill coffee and juices. I did request skim milk for my coffee, which server confirmed she had, but it never came. No biggie, just 25 extra calories per coffee cup. Tables were kind of close to each other, so spacing can be a bit tight. Doesn't impact you if you only get one plate at the buffet, but if you're going up often... (No judgement!) I would definitely return here, but it's not some place I can't wait to go back to. 3.5 stars

    Had a luncheon for guests following a service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. All went well and we were entirely pleased with the service and the quality of the food. It all helped to make the day go smoothly.

    Tea Went to this restaurant for tea recently. What a wonderful experience. There were three in our party, all women. We had very nice tea sandwiches, beautiful and tasty sweet treats and the most delicious pot of tea. The service was pleasant but not stuffy. They never rushed us, so we were able to sit and chat and catch up on each other's lives, just the way Tea us suppose to be. They have a beautiful patio/bar area but the temperature was too warm that day to take advantage of this area. I will, however, make a point of it to return and try the Tapas menu on the patio. Bravo to the Washington Crossing Inn.

    No. That wasn't George W. at the round table in the corner plotting his next move in the campaign to evict the British from the Original Thirteen. Although the Inn named for his most daring plan feels like it might have been around to provide succor to our troops, it actually came later. Still, if patriotic memories served with drink and sustenance are your thing, the Washington Crossing Inn will make you a very satisfied customer. The place just feels so authentic and historically grounded that it is impossible not to have at least a moment of reflection about the birth of our nation fought and died for all around on this hallowed ground. On a quiet Friday eve in August, when many were far away on vacation or at the shore, the WCI provides a nurturing and comfortable abode for a well made libation to accompany an equally crafted conversation. We sat at the bar catching up on too infrequently overlapping lives, me enjoying a Padron Margarita Up No Salt. It was tart, smooth and strong, without ice to dilute, nor salt to dry the lips. It was so good I anticipated the second long before I was close to finishing the first. The conversation became poignant, and my hunger asserted itself, so we agreed to move to a nearby hightop to enjoy a tavern meal as we imbibed and edged closer to the heart of our exchange. My Tavern Burger was very good with Red Onion, Tomato, and Lettuce ensconced in a fresh Kaiser Roll. It was dead-on medium as requested. The accompanying French Fries (here France is still an ally to our cause), were plentifully crisp. It was one of the better burgers I had eaten in the past year. Together, the Rita and Burger were a perfect complement to unexpectedly meaningful evening. For facilitating this exceptional moment in a wonderfully ambient historic environment, I genuinely felt this was as good as it gets. Taken separately each element may have been less, but in its totality it was life affirmingly great!

    I was very underwhelmed with my lunch. For $20 I got Penne Vodka that was more like a soup than a pasta dish. The flavors were okay, good even when I had it with the fresh cheese, but as soon as the shaved Parmesan was gone disappointment set in. Even the rolls were average at best. The service was fine and the restaurant itself is cute, but I don't think I'll ever go back.

    Wow!!! They are quick, they are friendly, and they are DELICIOUS. The drinks are bangin. The service is ON POINT. But the food is out of this world good. Drinks. They serve Hendricks. The top shelf Gin. And they're Johnny on the spot to refill. Enough said. Apps. These are not after-thoughts. These are very well thought out and carefully prepared. The Warm Spinach Salad with maple vinaigrette and the Special Bread that's soft and crispy, richly dressed in extra virgin olive oil, and generously accompanied by roasted garlic cloves and roasted long hat peppers that melt in your mouth, are absolutely amazing. The Crab Soup is creamy awesomeness where the crab melts on your mouth. Perfect! Dinners. The salmon, the roasted squash, the lamb "lollipops", were all melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!! Desserts. The Washington Cheesecake and the Chocolate Mouse draped in milk chocolate ganache are worth getting again. Delish!!! A beautifully classic venue with an awesome staff round out this visit with a 5 star rating.

    After needing to travel to Washington Crossing for business the other week, my client recommended we head over to the Washington Crossing in for their "by the fireside" lunch special. Two things were actually special about this lunch. 1. The place. It's absolutely beautiful and I bet it's really lovely around the holidays 2. The price. You get an appetizer, an entree and dessert for 12.99 Sadly, the actual food was not so special. I started with a warm spinach salad which had way too much oil but was pretty tasty. Then I had the mussels with pasta. These mussels were just sad. They were super tiny and overcooked. :( I finished with the best part of the meal...the apple fritters with a caramel sauce. Whoa. These came out hot and crispy on the outside. I loved these. All and all it was just ok. Our service was good, the atmosphere was lovely but the food just didn't live up to my hopes.

    This is a very nice place for dinner or drinks at the bar. The staff is top notch. Tonight I had the beet salad and lollipop lamb chops. The heirloom beet salad had beets along with pea shoots, goat cheese and a small quiche-like square. It was very good. The lamb lollipops were perfect! They always are! We got the special bread that is baked with Parmesan and olive oil and served with olives, roasted garlic and roasted peppers. That too was good. Others at the table had scallops. They were huge and cooked to perfection! The Inn was built in 1817 and it is full of history. It's beautifully restored but not stuffy. The bar is relaxed and always welcoming!

    We were big fans of Za in Pennington NJ -- delighted to find that Chef Mark Valenza is now at Washington Crossing Inn. One of my favorites in summer is the corn and tomato salad -- we had it on the patio last night on a beautiful evening and it was every bit as good as I recall. Our friend had the salmon and loved it. We are eager to go back and try some of the other dishes.

    Dined her Last week and loved it! Washington Crossing Inn is located near the river and is overall a gorgeous restaurant! Everything about this place makes me want to come back and dine. If your looking for a fancy meal choose this place. Its great for teens and adults and the spacious rooms can accommodate large numbers.

    My husband and I are longtime fans of the Inn but on several trips beginning last summer we have been very disappointed. Apparently they fired their chef and the result is very bad. We were there on Tuesday February 10 and had almost inedible meals. My husband had mushroom ravioli and I had shrimp and vegetables tempura which not only looked awful but tasted worse. The prices have soared and the cuisine has sunk to a new low. Very sad to see such a beautiful spot change so much. JAFYardley

    We have been going to Washington Crossing Inn for several years. Atmosphere is one of my favorites whether for drinks lunch or dinner. No matter what season, it always looks welcoming. The menu has recently changed for the better. They have added several more choices to lunch menu. The crab soup is delicious. The Caesar salad is great. My husband loves the meatloaf.. Always great service!

    I started with the Mixed Green Salad - fine, but nothing exciting. My entree was the seared tuna, but was pretty disappointed - there was too much sesame crust that overwhelmed the fish and the tempura-style rolls were oddly spongy and tasteless. The best part of the dish was the grilled sesame-flavored vegetables. I wrapped up with the Philly Cheesecake, which was good particularly because of the biscotti crumb crust. Overall, not a great meal, so I probably won't be back.

    Went there for a mid-afternoon meal with our family. We were greeted rudely by the bartender which was a very disappointing start BUT the service and meal afterward was wonderful. Had the crab soup and steak sandwich, taste and quality was top-notch. The manager apologized before we left which made us feel much better. I will definitely go again.

    My wife and I decided to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary a little closer to home than usual and a couple of weeks late. Last Saturday, we loosely planned a visit to the Bucks County Wine Country, mapping out a number of vineyards for a tasting tour. Thinking that we might have our main meal at lunchtime, we stopped at the Washington Crossing Inn. We were not disappointed! We were greeted very respectfully by a young lady who offered us a table in their outdoor garden/patio. We really enjoy dining al fresco when the weather is as perfect as it was on that day. The food was delicious (I had an amazing carrot/ginger/orange soup and shaved prime rib on a ciabatta roll with a side salad; my wife had an enormous salad with mixed greens, pecans, dried cranberries and goat cheese among other things). We toasted each other for our anniversary with a delightful glass of Prosecco. The server (who is going to nursing school) was really pleasant, and quite attentive. We were so full that we passed on dessert although there were a few tempting choices on the dessert menu. I may go back for the chocolate mousse one day! As an aside, it appears that the Inn is very popular for catered events, as there was an endless parade of people in their "Sunday finest" carrying gifts into the building. It was quite the people-watching opportunity!

    My husband and I were very happy with our wedding reception at the WCI. We worked with Jane and Rachael for nearly a year and Rachael was our night-of coordinator, both were fantastic throughout the process! We had a Saturday wedding in March and were able to take advantage of their off-season rate, which allowed us to go for the premium reception package. This package included centerpiece flowers, candelabras, a 3 tier wedding cake, linens, 5 hr open bar, half dozen passed hors d'oeuvres, raw bar, pasta station during cocktail hour, soup, salad, entrée with 3 choices, venetian table, and bananas foster. The price was amazing and with all the inclusions, I'm not sure why anyone would look somewhere else for a ballroom style reception in the area. Our theme was science-chic and I had a ton of personalized details throughout the tables, all of which were handled very well and to my liking. The guests all gushed at how well everything was taken care of! The only negative thing I heard was that the steaks were not cooked to order after the waiters had asked people - they were all served medium/well. I can understand logistically that it would be difficult to make individual ones, but perhaps in the future the steaks should just be served without asking cooking preference so people won't be dissatisfied/ignored. Otherwise the food was terrific! We had 75 in attendance with 10 tables and the room felt spacious but not empty. Would definitely recommend!

    I've here twice in one week! First was a banquet for a HS awards dinner. Food was good, salad was very fresh and done well. The dinner was chicken parm which was okay...not bad, but in an area flooded with Italian restaurants it was an odd choice. The staff was wonderful. Dinner 2 was another group dinner. Appetizers were fantastic. The fried calamari was very good and the shrimp were huge! Dinner was hit or miss...those who ordered the filet and chicken were pleased. Those who ordered the salmon were not. Crispy is one thing, but dried out crispy is another story. Dessert choices were great. Again, the staff worked hard and did a great job! The setting is warm and inviting and you have to love the George Washington motif. Nice place...I like it more when the weather is warm, but worth a visit.

    Although I have really liked this place in the past a recent experience made me lower my rating. My mom is planning my baby shower. The coordinator she was dealing with stopped responding to my mom after she inquired about whether we could bring our own mimosas in order to keep the budget in check. At least be kind and give an honest answer rather than completely stop returning calls. That's fine, we are taking our business to Francisco's down the road.

    Slow service waited 10 minutes for drink order. Had time to begin writing this review. Wife ordered apple martini and it shows up with a cherry in it. Limited and expensive menu. French chef. Chicken dish costing $32-ouch. Server redeemed herself by describing the menu items correctly however did not tell cost of specials until asked. A shared salad was well prepared , with a nice dressing already applied. Breads were fresh . Entrees (salmon and monk fish) were served to perfection. One dish included nuts and no notice was provided. Thankfully we are not allergic. Inn has been renovated and looks cold and unwelcoming. For a Saturday evening, it was moderately busy. We were warmly greeted at front desk and seated well ahead of our reservation time at our request. Owners/ management appeared absent as no one came by to check on our well being during dinner. After dinner we stopped in bar to see if they had any entertainment. They were starting at 9:00 so we could not wait. Overall while the food was good, entrees are expensive, small portions and it is an ala carte menu. We would be hard pressed to return for dinner given cost ($120 before tip -we passed on dessert and coffee) and inconsistent service and lack of attention by management. The facility has the ability to grow to greatness with a few changes as noted- better attention to clients and making them feel welcome. Finally I believe they have to provide better value for the price.

    I found myself here when I went to visit family over the Christmas break at Washington Crossing. To start off, Washington Crossing is a very adult community. I don't think I saw anyone under the age of 20 during my visit, but of course it is also quite rural and I doubt children will be seen playing hide and seek in the dead of winter. Regardless, I was informed residents must be at least 18 years of age in most housing communities so that says it right there. My aunt and uncle suggested Washington Crossing Inn for lunch before my trip back into the big city because it is the place to go if you ever stay in this quaint town. There is a rustic charm to the establishment which is somewhat appealing. The food wasn't spectacular, but I wasn't expecting to have my socks blown off. However, it was good. The servers and hostesses were surprisingly young, which makes me wonder what would possess a young individual to choose to live around such a quiet area without much course for escape to be rebellious and immature. To each their own...but I will say I did enjoy my stay in Washington Crossing and the Washington Crossing Inn was a nice way to end a holiday trip. I'd take the big city any day though.

    Let's talk about the Inn's outside dining that is available from the Springtime to the fall. What an experience!! Especially on a night when there is no rain predicted and the heat is tolerable or comfortable, like it was tonight. The wait staff is well trained, cordial and fully focused on keeping your table well maintained. You won't wait for water long and if you finish a plate, it will be picked up soon, not immediately, but comfortably quickly, so you feel no rush. Another plus is the full menu as well as a Tapas menu which both have great qualities! A number of well experienced staff keep you attended and the Host, Alex, keeps all thing in balance, for his client's needs. So, if you're looking for a place to enjoy a meal and cocktails under the Oaks, Maples and Sycamores with a comfortable outdoor experience you'll find none better than the Washington Crossing Inn! Hope you enjoy! And as we are owners of a local, Doylestown, eatery we know the challenges that are faced by restaurant owners and operators, and these folks have mastered them all!

    This was my husband's choice on a Saturday night. We have lived nearby, but never have been here for dinner. The inn is great in it's historic feel. Pictures of GW all over the place. The place is quite romantic with tables near cozy fireplaces and period lamps. The wait staff was very attentive and professional and we were well taken care of for a busy Sat. night crowd. Our table ordered: 4 Cheese onion soup, pear salad, and prime rib which is the weekend special. Overall the food was good. Not mind blowing. We also had the chocolate bomb and apple tart for dessert which again was ok. We will check this place off our list for having been, but I don't think we'll be back for a while.

    It was my first time to this restaurant. THe outdoor patio atmosphere was just beautiful. The corm chowder and cranberry salad were really good. The chocolate mousse tapas dessert was not "moussy" at all and more of like a dense cake. I would go back despite the service being a little slow.

    Three of us dropped in to the Inn Christmas day and enjoyed a great meal. I started with a soup which was delicious. Two of us had the stuffed turkey and my son had the Trout. Everything is served with elegance. While a bit on the pricey side, it is great food and ambiance with very pleasant and even entertaining servers.

    My sister and I went to the Washington Crossing Inn after work one day. We sat out on their back patio. The bartender and waitresses were so nice and friendly! We ordered tapas and 3.50 Yuenglings. We intended to stay maybe an hour but before we knew it, 3 hours had past. I enjoyed my time and look forward to our next visit.

    Atmosphere is great, perfect for this area...Food is way overpriced but good still...come on, $44 for a veal chop? Really, thats a lot no matter where you dine! Went here recently with my wife and another couple...sat outside, server didnt give us menus because she assumed we were only drinking, then wen we finally got menus and ordered all tapas, the food came out in a complete unorganized order and tempo...its like whenever the stuff was cooked she brought it out...my friend finished his "entree" before my app even came out after we specifically told her the order of food we wanted...She was very unhospitable and seemed like her days of being enthusiastic and serving were way past her...she was like the old waitress who is un-fireable bc shes worked there longer than the owners have owned the place! She left dirty plates and utensils on our small table for 4, auctioned off food, we ordered drinks and she'd be gone for 20 minutes, although I witnessed the lone bartender leave for a 10 minute cigarette break and phone call at 8 p.m. on Sunday labor day weekend when there was 50 people outside!!!! wheres the management supervising these clowns???? Ultimately, a $180 check gets you a $20 tip and thats generous of me...will not be back for a while

    OMG. This historic Inn is a great place for photo ops! There is a fountain with blooming flowers, a trellis, a gazebo, and a quaint wooden shed and garden on the premise, not to mention the historic Inn itself with a muriel of the Delaware river and antiques everywhere. This would be a great place to soak up some revolutionary history and have a cocktail. However, I chose to sample some northern food. First, lets start with the bread and it's colorful presentation. Garlic bread with a bunch of roasted garlic cloves on one side and purple olives on the other, topped with roasted green peppers. I ordered the Scottish Salmon since this is something I can not find in LA and it was pretty good. Not overly seasoned, but it is something that can stand alone without much seasoning. Underneath was a potatoe patty and a red tomatoe source that seemed Italian inspired. Other people also commented about lack of seasoning, but you can not hold Northern cuisine to the same standard as Southern cuisine and I will not hold it against them. Everything seemed pretty darn good in my opinion. This restaurant even has an unusual entree....the wild boar. I did try a bite from someone else's plate and if you are a meat lover you would probably love it. The sauce that came with was also very complimentary with the dish. FYI- I consider this place casual dressy. Meaning you dont need to wear an uncomfortable stiff suit, but you should wear something better then your best jeans.

    Just had their Irish Special for Saint Patrick's Day. Three course meal and a Guinness for advertised $25 with live Irish music. Firsts we told the server one of us was gluten intolerant and asked if we could substitute a wine for the Guinness. Reasonable request..denied. Even more reasonable since the other of us did not drink alcohol at all hence they saved on one drink anyway. But rules are rules and ..No Substitutions.... The first course a potato pancake was very good. Next came the entree which was corned beef (very fatty) and cabbage salad and potatoes. The corned beef was barely edible. The cabbage salad was cold and devoid of flavor and at least the potatoes were fine. Then we ordered a cheese cake for desert plus the bread pudding which comes with the meal. By the way the cheesecake was $8.00 (one third the cost of a normal entree!). The bread pudding was hard as a brick with a piece of candy stuck on top of it that looked like broken glass.The $8.00 cheesecake was mediocre. The service by the way through this meal was erratic at best. The bus boy was more attentive and skilled than the server for example. When the bill came it was $61.50 (plus $10 for tip = $71.50). The music (advertised) was a joke certainly not a skilled Irish band 3 guys on bar stools with no apparent talent and by the way in a separate room by the bar which was full. If you are interested in quality dining or entertainment do not bother it is not here. I will NEVER dine here again.
